Hey there! My name is Kaitlen, a busy mom of two little girls and I am about to share with you something that will change your life! The name of this game is Witch Hazel! If you have not heard of it, this will rock your world! There are SO many things that Witch Hazel can do and help you in this long adventure we call Motherhood!
First and foremost…
What is Witch Hazel?
Witch Hazel is a are a genus flowering plant found in the North America, Japan and China. It has been used for many, many generations to reduce and prevent:
- Acne
- Bruises
- Inflammation (redness and swelling)
- Sunburn
- Eczema
- Razor Burn
- Ingrown Hairs
- Varicose Veins
- Insect Bites
- Poison Ivy
Witch Hazel can ALSO:
- Remove Makeup
- Used as a daily Face Wash
So lets get down to business.
How does it work and what Witch Hazel will DO for YOU?
1. Acne Reducer
Witch Hazel is SPECTACULAR to reduce those pesky pimples that our lovely teens get and the few that seem to pop out of no where for us moms. Witch Hazel contains tannins which helps extract a natural astringent. It is one of the most popular acne treatments in the world! Dampen a cotton ball or cotton swab and clean around and directly on the blemish and watch it disappear within 24-48 hours!
2. Reduces the Appearance of Bruises
Witch Hazel helps decrease bleeding and tissue damage, which also reduces the appearance of bruises too! Just apply with a cotton swab or wash cloth for 2-3 minutes 3 times a day and Viola! Poof! It’s gone!
3. Inflammation
Get rid of that redness and swelling by applying a small amount of bit of Witch Hazel directly on the inflamed area. Like bruises, Witch Hazel eliminates redness by contracting tissue damage leaving your skin with that nice even glow it once had before you slammed your finger in the refrigerator door.
4. Sunburn and Blistered Skin
Sunburn can be the WORST! Imagine a beautiful summer day ruined by the blistering lobster skin your face, arms and back have now turned into. Try applying Witch Hazel on those painful shoulders and feel the agony disappear within minutes!
5. Eczema
Both my girls have eczema because the acquired it from their loving mother, and when it flares up, I have a house full of itchy. I put a little bit of this on the rash right before bedtime and by morning it is gone!
6. Razor Burn and Ingrown Hairs
Back to the topic of summer, because we all know that none of us shave in the winter. Razor burn not only hurts it’s extremely unattractive when you are trying to show off those gorgeous legs. After a good shave, mix your favorite lotion with this phenomenal stuff to reduce the unappealing and painful razor burn. Promise you’ll thank me later.
Similar to the affects Witch Hazel has on razor burn it can also help keep those ingrown hairs a bay. Mix a small amount with your moisturizer and apply this directly on the recently shaved area. By doing so, those annoying ingrown hairs won’t stand a chance!
7. Insect Bites and Poison Ivy
When you get a bug bite or poison ivy, you know you are in for a long night! This AMAZING astringent has been known to reduce the pain of both AND lessen the intense need to scratch!
8. Removing Makeup and Daily Face Wash
As a mom, you don’t get a lot of ‘you’ time. Sometimes even washing your face is not a task that can be taken quickly. For a quick spruce up, dampen a cotton swap or napkin and wipe your with Witch Hazel face down. It will leave it nice and refreshed to tackle the rest of the day!
You could also add 2 Tsp to your normal face wash for an extra bit of clean. It is mild and can be used for daily use.
